Bessie Harvey (Dallas, Georgia 1929-1994 Alcoa, Tennessee) Untitled (Cocono), 1989 Watercolor and pen on paper 15 x 11 inches Knoxville Museum of Art, 2012 gift of Glady and Ross Faires Although best known for her assembled wooden sculptures, Harvey also produced numerous drawings, most using watercolor pens. Most include flattened, simplified human and animal figures in combinations that reflect the artist's spiritual visions. |
