Richard Jolley (Wichita, Kansas 1952; lives and works in Knoxville) Translating Substance, Black and White, 2007 Acrylic on paper 96 x 48 inches Knoxville Museum of Art, 2007 gift of the artist in memory of Nell Sampson Jolley has established a national reputation for his figurative glass sculptures, several of which are represented in KMA's collection. The Knoxville artist also produces drawings in a variety of media. Unlike his sculptures, which are the product of weeks of work by the artist and his team, acrylic drawings like this offer Jolley the freedom to explore compositional ideas quickly. |
