Description |
Robert Embrey Japala #1, 1984 Dye transfer on paper 9 1/4 x 11 1/2 inches Knoxville Museum of Art, 1985 purchase award from the 17th Dulin National Works on Paper Competition Instead of creating an emotional response, as Virginia Raskin does with Lace Curtains, Robert Embrey seemed to be inspired by the alien colors of foreign places. By using the dye-transfer process the artist can adjust the hue and density of each color. Another photograph on paperer, Kendra North, describes the dye-transfer this way: "The color of the finished print never looked the way I had originally envisioned it through the camera. I was looking for what photograph on paperer Syl Labrot spoke of 'color as and exact re-creation of the sensations of realism.'" |
