Pablo Ruiz y Picasso (Malaga, Spain 1881-1973 Paris, France) Diurnes, no date Linoleum print on paper 15 ¼ x 12 inches Knoxville Museum of Art, 1965 purchase from Ferdinand Roten Galleries Pablo Picasso is perhaps the most famous artist in the world. He dominated the development of Western art in the first half of the 20th century. He co-founded the art movement Cubism with artist Georges Braque, although Picasso himself employed many styles during his long career. Cubism's fractured picture plane and images created a way for artists to begin to work with abstract images and ideas. |
