Pam Longobardi (Glen Ridge, New Jersey 1958; lives and works in Atlanta, Georgia) Display/Attraction, 1997 Copper over wood with oil, enamels 58 x 84 inches Knoxville Museum of Art, 2015 bequest of Arlene Goldstine Atlanta-based artist and environmental activist Pam Longobardi, a former member of the UTK School of Art, examines the complex relationship between humanity and nature. Her compositions often feature human elements juxtaposed with equivalents or opposites culled from the animal kingdom. Since 2006, the artist has become internationally known for her collaborative, community-based sculptural works comprised of plastic debris gathered in various coastal environments around the world. |
