Wayne Douglas Quinn The Adopted One, 1973 Oil on canvas 24 x 29 inches Knoxville Museum of Art, 1974 gift of Mrs. Clifford Folger Quinn uses and intensely photo realistic style in depicting the people that he encounters in his everyday life-friends, relatives, scurrying crowds of strangers on the streets of San Francisco. Quinn visited Japan in 1983 and the influence of Japanese art, especially printmaking, is evident in his use of strong diagonals, flat patterns, shallow spaces, and subtle color. |
