William Loy (1937-2008 Knoxville) An Earthly Judgement, 1964 Collograph on paper, artist's proof 18 x 24 inches Knoxville Museum of Art, 2019 gift of Pandy Anderson in memory of Riley Anderson Loy was a talented and innovate Knoxville-based printmaker who specialized in collographs, or a method of intaglio that involves attaching various collage materials to the plate surface to create an assortment of textural effects. He was a key member of the UTK School of Art faculty during the mid to late 1960s and exhibited with members of the former Knoxville 7 group at a 1964 presentation at the Brooks Museum in Memphis. |
